Safety devices — horn, backup alarm, lights, seat belt

Tires and steering

The 5 defects that trigger immediate tag-out

Under 1910.178(p)(1), any defect adversely affecting safety requires the forklift to be immediately removed from service and tagged "DANGER — DO NOT OPERATE" until repair. These five are the tag-out triggers that show up most in incident investigations — the ones that must never be discretionary.
